GOOD IDEAS IN MEDIA, TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, April 21st, Capital C and I (Janet Jones) will be hosting the first PSFK, Good Ideas Salon in Toronto. The Salons are a gathering of forward thinkers, bringing together a wide range of experts to share their experience and knowledge. Our first theme is Good Ideas In Media, and our panelists include: Jonathan Lister (Managing Director, Head, Google Canada),  Jesse Hirsh (Toronto based Internet strategist, researcher, and broadcaster), David Jones (Vice President, digital communications, Hill & Knowlton, Toronto), and Mathew Ingram (Communities Editor, technology writer and blogger, Globe & Mail).

This is Media from a uniquely Canadian perspective…but not what you might expect. Join the panel for great conversation and thought provoking insights on the ‘Media Chaos Scenario’.  Please arrive ready hear our experts extend and defend dangerous new ideas in Media !

Peller Estates  is generously providing a selection of their core wines and VQA offerings.

It’s finally here!  When I met Piers Fawkes [PSFK] in November at a Future Trends Conference, I told him if he ever wanted to do anything in Toronto, I would be happy to help.  I was very honoured when a couple of months later he took me up on my offer. PSFK was taking the Good Ideas Salons to new locations, and Toronto was one of them, [until that time, it was just London and New York]. It has been a lot of planning and logistics, and luckily Capital C Communications, a very creative and innovative agency, was more than willing to co-host.  Offering up not only their great space downtown, but everything else that is needed to make this event a success.  Our panel of media experts include, Jesse Hirsh, Internet strategist, researcher, and broadcaster [CBC] based in Toronto; David Jones, Vice President, digital communications at Hill & Knowlton, Toronto; and Jonathan Lister, Managing Director and Head of Google Canada; and just added as our 4th panel memeber,  Mathew Ingram, Communities Editor, technology writer and blogger, Globe & Mail. The panel will be moderated by Capital C’s Tony Chapman.

The video from the first Vancouver Salon, held in March, can be viewed here Only 40 tickets were available, and are selling quickly.  Go to Eventbrite, to purchase.

We know it will be a great night, full of conversation, fun and even some drinks….check out the announcement on the PSFK, Good Ideas Salon site for more info.

Well, here I am, all alone….without the security of a big Corporation’s blog. No fellow bloggers to keep me company. No one knows me here…and how will they find me?

Today is Day 10 of unemployment for me. Maybe it hasn’t quite hit yet…4 great days in New York softened the blow I think, and this week has been busy with paper work, re-establishing connections, a few lunches with former collegues, and more time with the kids.

So, my first post is a short one. It is merely satisfying an addiction right now. I am just getting started and getting used to this new life…you are my guinnie pigs. Comments are welcome…and even encouraged!  This blog will attempt to “find the thing just around the corner”, share some of the “far-sighted” and “crazy-about the small stuff” (as per Brian!) i come accross in my daily searches. This blog will evolve, the name will probably change, and as it grows up and matures, will change its looks too. Until I get the hang of it…please be patient – I am still learning…!
