15 years ago, my brother (who’s a bit more sheltered than his sisters) thought it would be a great idea to have a professional family portrait done.
So to the “portrait studio” in Quebec city we all trekk, where the photographer (I think he was underage!) lines us up in front of a blotchy grey/white/black canvas, and has us all stand or sit to create a “composition”.
There was only one “good” picture in the bunch, except that my dad’s eyes were closed. That seemed to be no problem for the photographer: he painted (on top of the photo) open eyes in my dad’s face.
Not only is our one family photo ever awkward, it is downright freakish!
